Christopher E. Yang - Principal

Focus on growth equity and IT venture capital as well as buyouts, particularly distressed equity

Leadership in China and other Asian opportunities, as well as in GSA's secondary fund investing activities

Over a decade and a half of experience in private equity, entrepreneurship and strategy consulting

Prior Experience:
Chris is a Managing Partner of GSA and a member of the firm's Investment Committee. He is an active investor in micro and mid-market buyouts with a particular interest in distressed opportunities, as well as technology-oriented growth and venture funds. Chris takes leadership responsibility for GSA's strategy and portfolio development in China. He also leads GSA's secondary fund investing activities with principal responsibility for both execution and the management of intermediary relationships. He is a member of a number of fund advisory boards. Internally, he helps to spearhead the firm's recruiting efforts and provides oversight of the proprietary systems used by the investment team to monitor current and future fund offerings.

Prior to joining Grove Street in 2001, Chris was a consultant with Integral, Inc. and Alliance Consulting Group where he worked on strategy development for a number of large technology companies on the west coast in the software and telecommunications industries. He has also held various operating positions with Internet companies such as HomeGrocer, SchoolStop and Rotten Tomatoes. Chris was an Associate with I-Group HotBank/Seed Capital, SOFTBANK's early stage venture affiliate in Boston, and has completed summer internships with Bain & Company working on its eVolution joint venture with Texas Pacific Group and Kleiner Perkins, as well as the law firm of Bingham McCutchen.
